Below are county-led paving projects and other road maintenance.
You will see crews on site and may have to adjust your travel, but usually for only a brief time. The long-term benefits of these investments include making it safer and easier for you to connect to places using county roads.

Traffic signals
In 2026, Hennepin County is replacing traffic signal poles and light components at 20 intersections across the county. By upgrading items that are nearing the end of their planned service life, we continue to provide safe and reliable travel for all the people who use the roads, sidewalks, and trails.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Updates will be completed between February and May.
- We’ll install advance notification signs at each location about a week prior to the start of work.
- Work at most sites will take about two weeks, which includes time for the concrete to cure.
- Intersections will function as an all-way stop—using either a flashing red light or stop signs—during the installation.
- We’ll close some lanes so crews can safely complete their work.
- You may experience delays, particularly during peak hours.
Noticeable benefits include:
- New signals with better visibility
- Better access for people walking and rolling with upgraded pedestrian push buttons
- New metal poles set in concrete foundations
- Brighter streetlights
